For those who are unfamiliar with MyFantasyLeague.com‘s MFL10s, they’re draft-only leagues of the best-ball format. Each MFL10 has a $10 entry fee, you draft your team of 22 players, and then the players with the highest scores at each position are chosen as your starters for each week. At the end of the season, $100 goes to the team that accumulates the most points throughout the season and the runner-up gains an entry to a 2015 MFL10s contest.
Last year, I outlined my thought process throughout an MFL10 here on Forensic Fantasy and so when Sportable NFL asked me to participate in an MFL10 this year where each analyst would provide commentary, I jumped at the opportunity.
I ended up with pick 1.07 and was ecstatic to have taken Adrian Peterson with my first selection. Here’s my own commentary on that pick:
With the seventh pick in the Sportable MFL10 Draft, I selected Adrian Peterson. In his seven-year career, he’s averaged a 3.7 finish among running backs in total fantasy points - the worst year being eighth place when he played only 12 games in 2011.
He’ll be 29 years old at the start of the 2014 season, but still averaged 4.54 YPC, which is more remarkable considering the attention he attracts from opposing defenses. With Norv Turner in town, he should near 350 touches with increased usage as a receiver.
You will be able to follow along to the actual draft here and for all of the commentary, you’ll just have to head over to Sportable NFL. Much of the commentary will also offer a chance for readers to chime in via a poll.
I hope you all enjoy following along and that you’re also as excited as me for the 2014 NFL Season. Football is coming!
