The buzz of the free agency period has faded and while many football fans are looking ahead to the NFL Draft, we were blessed with a small appetizer tonight: the release of the 2013 NFL Schedule. I’ve found it to be a most welcome treat that also provides relief from the ever-repetitive Darrelle Revis trade speculation.
Yes, I know that it’s tough to gauge strength-of-schedule in the offseason because there are tons of variables, but that shouldn’t stop us starved football fans from imagining our jalapeno poppers to be a mouth-watering New York Strip. And so I’m going to note a few match-ups that fantasy footballers should keep in mind.
I do know that the Seattle Seahawks will have a, dare I say, dominant defense. In Week 15, they will be traveling to the Meadowlands. Unfortunately for Seattle DST owners, they will not be playing the New York Jets, which is also unfortunate for the New York Giants offensive players. The 12th Man will be roaring in Week 16, well for at least the first half, when the Arizona Cardinals venture northward to the same location where Pete Carroll laid chalked around their lifeless bodies to a tune of 58-0. One can only hope they do not end up facing the Seattle DST in a week of that magnitude. Owners of St. Louis Rams’ players can be thankful they will avoid a trip to Seattle during the “regular fantasy season” as that game takes place in Week 17.
Speaking of the NFL’s final week, the Denver Broncos will waste an enticing matchup with the Oakland Raiders. The Kansas City Chiefs will tango with the Raiders in Week 15, while the San Diego Chargers have the pleasure of playing Oakland in Week 16. Before I am chided for further discussing the schedule, I leave you with a link so that you can scour it for yourself: 2013 NFL SCHEDULE
